The Eastern Continental Trail

ECT Overview

What is the Eastern Continental Trail?

The Eastern Continental Trail is an unofficial trail that begins in Key West and ends in Belle Isle, Newfoundland, Canada. It encompasses eight distinct sections as identified by Nimblewillnomad.com, the best site about the ECT out there. I'm not an expert on the whole thing, just the part in my backyard, so I will provide links to the real experts.

Section 1: The Keys Glades Connector (and the subject of this website)

Mileage is estimated at 191 miles using the only viable route to the mainland (Card Sound Road). This is a preliminary estimate, and I will verify that over the next couple of months.

The Florida Trail Association does provide good mileage information for the ECT connection in one of their books, the Florida Trail Companion Guide for Long Distance Hikers.

Section 2:  The Florida National Scenic Trail
